Project Concept

Fragments is a visual exploration of different geometrical shapes, inspired by the refraction and detail of raw crystals. This project explores the harmony of sharp geometry and transparent materials.


Designed in Blender, each piece in the collection contains a different hue and colour palette for a feeling of variety and richness.

The modelling process began with generating base crystal forms using a combination of procedural techniques and manual vertex points.


I utilized the Boolean and Decimation operations to create sharp, fragmented edges, ensuring an organic ore like structured look.

For shading, I developed a custom material using Blender’s Principled BSDF shader, focusing on transparency, subsurface scattering, and refraction. By fine-tuning IOR (Index of Refraction), roughness, and transmission values, I achieved realistic light dispersion within the crystals.


Additional procedural noise textures introduced subtle surface irregularities, enhancing the depth and complexity of reflections.
